If you ever had to do the type of work I do for a living, you would be surprised to find the things I come across. Some days I manage to find what I am looking for but other times it is harder and the search goes into the night. My partner is one I rely on when it comes to this type of job. She can follow the hardest trail and never lose the scent. With all the abilities that she has, there are limits. This is where the equipment comes in. During the night, she has more direction than I do but it does not have the needed detail. I rely on the night vision goggles from ATN during the long searches. Her incredible scent will always lead me in the right direction but in emergency situations, time is of the essence and I need to be able to locate the victim right away if they are trapped beneath an object or even threatened by an animal. My partner’s insistent barks might be enough to let the other person know that help is one the way but on some occasions, they may be unconscious. With the use of the Generation 3 ATN PS15 series night goggles, I am able to see my surroundings as if it is broad day light out. The last search and rescue assignment was one of the hardest of my life. My partner was able to get us where we needed to go but the terrain was not the most favorable. It was already dark but we still could not locate the little girl. She had fallen down a steep slope and ended up in a ditch. We found her under debris that had fallen earlier. Having the night vision goggles gave us a great advantage because I was able to spot her behind the rocks and move them so they did not further injure her. She was unconscious but once we got her to the clinic, she was able to recover within a week. These days, I do not go anywhere without my lab and my second pair of eyes.

Duck Habits and Hunting Techniques

Over the years I’ve learned that one of the keys to duck hunting is to know where the ducks like to sit. On windy days puddle ducks often sit in small openings in cattail, bull rush or saw grassy areas in sloughs, ponds and lakes. They may also sit in small potholes or stock ponds that are low enough ...
Mississippi River Duck Hunting Skiff
www.alaska.net (2005-04-21)
Duck skiffs were used to layout decoys, retrieve ducks, and "jump" shoot small creeks and marsh edges on slow days. Some used them to paddle out to the hunting grounds in protected water. We always towed a skiff out to our traditional hunting area, as you must pass thru some open, occasionally ...

Well here we go, it’s finally here, DUCK SEASON!!!! Man I’m just like a kid at Christmas. Today I want to discuss concealment. I have been guiding hunters in Arkansas for many years. My number one problem with my clients is concealing them so we can get the ducks or geese in close. What ...
